Today Lesley Sharp took a tutorial on techniques in watercolour. Lesley provided all sorts of materials:- paper, salt, candles, cottonwool, a toothbrush and the club provided the watercolour and brushes. Lesley had also brought with her, her beautiful painting of a horse in a rural setting. She explained that most of the materials and techniques were used in the painting. The use of each of the materials and the effect they produce was the demonstrated to us and then we all had a playful and enjoyable time experimenting and making a mess especially with the splatter of the toothbrush. Painting should be enjoyable and it certainly was today, Learning can always be fun and now we can apply these techniques to our watercolours or just while away the hours making use of even more unconventional art materials we find in our homes.
